With the dollar lagging behind the pound like a Brooklyn cop who’s had one too many Dunkin’ Donuts, it’s mighty tempting to bag yourself an HG10 if you’re visiting Stateside.
Karltimber of AV Forums is looking for his first camcorder and is thinking of getting his friend to pick up an HG10 in New York, as he can buy one for about £350 over there. Our trialist Senu reassures him that an HG10 bought in the US will work fine over here, in high definition formats, with a powerful enough PC. He also responds to Insi’s questions about using the camera in Australia – reiterating that HD is fine, but if you’re looking at standard definition files, you will come into difficulties with the different PAL/NTSC formats.
In another thread, rd891 explains that he works between the US and UK and plans to buy an NTSC HG10 to use both countries. Senu and Redsox_Mark step in to creassure him that the HD footage will play fine on HDTVs in both countries, although he will need to convert footage to PAL if he wants to watch it on a standard definition British TV.
There are many more details around warranties and other possible transatlantic issues in the threads, so go and read the full conversations and ask any questions of your own if you’re thinking of using your HG10 on both sides of the pond.

Can anyone advise on where to buy a cheap HG10 in USA ? preferably a website USA based.
