On the 27th and 28th of October Canon Pro Photo Solutions 09 took place at The Business Design Centre in Islington. CameraBuzz went along and took with us Canon fans @phillprice, @carlonicora and @benjaminellis.
Arriving at the event, the guys along with Aaron and Colin of CameraBuzz renown were met by a throng of activity and Lisa Freeman, Canon’s New Media Consultant. Lisa had set up a quick tour of the of the venue and exhibitors, and also divulged details about the event in general. After that the guys picked up their product loans and headed off to put them through there paces.
Benjamin got straight down to it, grabbing a lens that was, ‘well big’ and investigating a rig built from Canon DSLRs that was used to create the bullet time effect used famously in The Matrix. In his write up of the event at Benjamin on the Net he discusses his highlights. These included the 1D Mark IV, the 70-300mm DO IS USM lens, Canon Powershot S90, and the 7D of which Benjamin says,
“Want one. That’s all. Yes, it’s a crop sensor, but if you are doing both photography and video, as I increasingly am these days, then the simple switch to toggle between the two modes, together with the start/stop button and the ability to shoot 720p as well as 1080p, make it a joy to use.”
Carlo has also collected his thoughts at his blog The Round Peg, and was especially appreciative of the chance to try out the lenses,
“[…] my dream-lens, the 85mm f/1.2 MK II, plus the new version of the 70-300. I have to admit that I mounted the portrait lens the minute I got there and have not removed it since. [...] I can anticipate that it is one of the best lenses I have ever used!”
By all accounts the event was enjoyed by the CameraBuzz collective, something expressed in a tweet by Phill as he explored the show, “loving the Canon pro solutions event.”

To catch up on all that went on be sure to read the Carlo and Benjamin’s posts, and also head to Benjamin’s Flickr set Canon Pro Solutions Show 09. All that remains is to send out a big thank you to Carlo, Benjamin and Phill as well as the guys at Canon – thank you!
